How can I support communities affected by the disaster in St. Clair County, MI?

Monetary donations can be made to the Disaster Response Fund of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County via this link.


Can I post on social media about donating to your fund, or give proceeds from my business to your fund?

Yes. Please contact us to approve your post: disaster@stclairfoundation.org


Does SCC Strong accept material donations like clothes and supplies, or in-kind donations like volunteer hours?

SCC Strong accepts monetary donations only. To donate goods or in-kind services, contact St. Clair County.


Where can I find information and resources for those displaced by the disaster?

If you want to learn more about the resources available to residents, businesses, and visitors to St. Clair County, please visit the St. Clair County website. You can also visit the Be Ready St. Clair County website.


Is there a way I can donate cash directly to residents in need?

No, not through the Community Foundation.


Will I be able to contribute to the fund using my Donor Advised Fund?

Yes.  To request a grant from your fund to SCC Strong, please contact disaster@stclairfoundation.org.   If you have a donor advised fund with a commercial fund such as Fidelity or Janus, they should be able to help you make a grant directly to the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, Disaster Response Fund.


Can I use other assets to make a gift to the SCC Strong Fund?

Is there a fee to contribute?

No, there is no administrative fee for donating to the fund, except for a $0.30 transaction fee and 2.5-3.5% processing fee charged by the credit card processor for online contributions.


Can donations be made via check?

Yes. Donations made via check can be made out to “Community Foundation of St. Clair County.” Please write either “SCC Strong” or “Disaster Fund” on the memo line and mail to:

Can I support the SCC Strong Fund by hosting a fundraiser, sale, etc. and do I need the Community Foundation’s consent to use its name for the promotion?

If you are interested in raising funds for the SCC Strong Fund by hosting a fundraiser, charitable sales promotion, round-up campaign, donation collection, or similar campaign please send an email to disaster@stclairfoundation.org with the following information:

  • Your name and contact information;
  • The name of your business;
  • A description of your proposed campaign including the time period it will occur and your fundraising goal amount;
  • An image of any product(s) you desire to sell;
  • The location of your event/sale/fundraiser (physical location, web, or social media).

While we so appreciate your support, please be aware that using the Community Foundation’s name or logo or the SCC Strong Fund name without our written consent is not permissible. Our staff will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.


Is Community Foundation of St. Clair County a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization?

Yes, Community Foundation of St. Clair County is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax deductible as allowable by the law and your tax situation. Our tax ID # is: 38-1872132


Can I specify a nonprofit or specific purpose for my donation?

No. The SCC Strong Fund is a pooled fund that will be used for evolving needs. We cannot allocate resources based on specific requests.
